March 22, 2011Posted in: Health And Recreation

Here are 10 tips from the “Hip’nFit FUN CLUB!” Healthy Contract we give to the kids to bring home to sign with their parents…

1. Make sandwiches with whole-wheat or whole-grain bread rather than white.
2. Stock your upboard with cereals containing less than 10 grams of sugar per serving (look on the label under “Carbohydrates”).
3. Eat at least three (3) servings of milk, cheese, or yogurt every day.
4. Eat at least four (4) different kinds of vegetables and fruit and eat one or more of them daily.
5. Get outside and do sports, dance or some kind of exercise every day.
6. Eat fast food three times a month or less.
7. Snack on savory (pretzels, popcorn, crackers, rice cakes) rather than sweet (cake and cookies).
8. Candy and cake are treats given only at special times like birthdays and holidays.
9. Drink water, juice, or low-fat milk rather than sugary drinks and soda.
10. Eat proteins sources like fish and/or beans several times a month.

Try searching for the bargains and healthier stuff on the lower shelves. That bending down adds EXERCISE to your Shopping Cart Smarts!
